Various Research Opportunities
Teams led by the outstanding research faculty in our department pursue a broad range of research topics that advance the field of physics. These researchers win competitive grants from funding sources including the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the Office of Naval Research, and a wide variety of federal, commercial and industrial organizations.
The department’s success is bolstered by excellent research facilities on NC State’s Main Campus and Centennial Campus. Our faculty and students have the opportunity to conduct research at prestigious external facilities including the Triangle Universities Nuclear Laboratory, the Thomas Jefferson National Laboratory, the Advanced Photon Source, the Spallation Neutron Source and the KamLAND Neutrino Telescope.
The department offers hands-on opportunities at every level, from undergraduate programs to graduate program research to postdoctoral fellowships.
