SCIENCE CAFE: CAUGHT IN THE ACT: ATOMS IN MOTION AND THE 2023 NOBEL PRIZE IN PHYSICS
Grab a bite from the Daily Planet Cafe and join host Chris Smith and special guests for the Science Cafe. On the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7pm, gather with other curious minds at this after-hours event for an informal presentation and conversation about current science topics with guest experts.
The Daily Planet Cafe is open 5–8pm with a full menu during the Science Cafe. Join us in-person or watch the livestream on YouTube.
TONIGHT’S TALK
Learn about the science that won this year’s Nobel Prize in Physics in a special presentation brought to you by the Department of Physics at NCSU. This year’s Nobel Prize went to scientists who investigated capturing snapshots of electrons with lasers. We’ll hear from Dr. Kenan Gundogdu at NCSU who will share the background of these discoveries and why they’re so important to our understanding of quantum physics.
TONIGHT’S EXPERT
Dr. Kenan Gundogdu is a professor of physics at NC State University. His research group investigates quantum materials using ultrafast optics with a goal to identify materials useful in a wide array of devices, such as LEDs, displays, and solar conversion.
